Making Content Bigger Than Yourself
I’ve always wanted to create something that will outlive me…
In 2013 I was diagnosed with a stage 3 brain tumor. I watched from afar as my family and friends continued to live life while my body deteriorated. Most days I woke up in pain, if not physical — emotional. Those eight months of treatment and surgeries were hell and completely broke me to my core.
I’m thankful for it.
I believe happiness is a choice and I choose to view that experience as a blessing. A perspective on life that most will never fully understand.
That being said, I wouldn’t change a thing.
When creating Beyond The Content (formerly Inside the Streamer Studio) I always knew that if, given the opportunity to share a conversation with someone, I could make a positive impression on their lives. 125+ interviews later and that same sentiment holds true.
As much as I love talking — it’s listening, and responding with the intention of learning something new being my focus during those shows. The star will always be the guest. It’s my responsibility as a host to guide and assist them in sharing their story.
Former guest ggAcho once told me:
“The numbers will never tell the full story. You have done and continue to do a huge amount to positively impact lives.”
If your value as a content creator is solely in the numbers (follower count, average view count, subscriber goals) you’ve put a glass ceiling on your potential and creativity.
Just be selfless.
Life is much more rewarding when you’re doing stuff for other people. The impact and impression you make will live on through those individuals.
I think that’s the secret to living forever.
Having a piece of your influence living through others.
